Our curriculum

Primary students develop a love of learning and essential life skills. By following the Colombian National Curriculum and the Cambridge Lower Primary program, they engage in active, hands-on, student-centered learning. Students strengthen their linguistic skills through reading, writing, and analyzing texts. They expand their vocabulary, structure sentences correctly, and learn grammar rules while developing critical thinking and effective communication. By reading stories, fables, poems, and literary works, students interpret different genres, reflect on values and emotions, and express their creativity through writing short stories, descriptions, and personal reflections.

Students develop strong English communication skills and intercultural awareness through the Cambridge ESOL curriculum. Using Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), they learn English in meaningful, real-world contexts such as science, social studies, and math. Through Active Learning and La Colina’s Active Pedagogy, students take ownership of their learning, engaging in inquiry, collaboration, debates, projects, and creative problem-solving, developing fluency, confidence, and 21st-century skills.

Starting in third grade, students begin learning French as a third language through a structured program aligned with the CEFR. They build vocabulary, phonetic awareness, and listening comprehension, progressing from A1 to A2+ over three years. Through playful, interactive activities and reading stories and rhymes, students gain confidence, curiosity, and a positive attitude toward language learning.

Solving problems and reasoning critically

Students develop analytical, critical, and reflective thinking through mathematics.
