Celebrating multilingualism

At Colegio La Colina, we celebrate each student’s linguistic heritage, fostering an inclusive environment where Spanish, English, and French come together to inspire learning and nurture global perspectives.

From Preschool onward, students develop additional languages through meaningful experiences integrated across subjects, preparing for Cambridge certifications and international exchanges. Here, they gain the confidence to communicate, think, and connect across cultures, preparing them for a world without borders.

Preschool Primary School High School

Preschool

In Early Years, multilingualism is embraced as a powerful way to support children’s cognitive growth, emotional development, and social confidence from the very beginning. Guided by the Cambridge curriculum and an active, hands-on approach, students acquire English and Spanish naturally, discovering language through play, exploration, and meaningful daily interaction.

This methodology encourages clear communication, thoughtful reasoning, and genuine curiosity about other cultures. Wellbeing is also at the heart of our program: every learning experience takes place in a warm and secure environment that strengthens self-esteem, fosters empathy, and helps children feel confident expressing themselves in more than one language.

Primary School

In Primary, multilingualism is strengthened through an immersion model in which roughly 70% of classes are taught in English and 30% in Spanish. This balanced approach allows students to develop strong bilingual skills while maintaining their cultural identity and connection to their native language.

Beginning in third grade, French is introduced as a third language, broadening students’ global outlook and reinforcing the school’s commitment to a truly multilingual education.

Rooted in the Cambridge curriculum and supported by an active, student-centered pedagogy, language learning is woven naturally into all subject areas, making it meaningful, engaging, and relevant to students’ daily experiences.

High School

In High School, students prepare for the IELTS exam, earning internationally recognized certification for their language skills.

Through the Cambridge curriculum and an active, inquiry-based approach, students sharpen their critical thinking, strengthen their ability to build arguments, and communicate effectively in global contexts.

Students also continue to deepen their mastery of Spanish, which reinforces their cultural identity and expressive abilities, while French broadens their education as a third language, expanding their worldview and opening new pathways for the future.

María Paula P.

As a student, I have experienced multilingualism in a very meaningful way since I joined this school. Being surrounded by classmates from different nationalities has allowed me to learn about new cultures and be exposed to different languages every day.
